Self-awareness and self-confidence are two important aspects of self empowerment. To be fully aware of your own strengths and weaknesses in parallel to your life goals is a jumpstart towards calculated self-confidence. Truthful assessment of your potentials and sensible determination of how you can improve on your limitations are crucial in taking right courses of actions towards becoming a better you. Constant hard work in achieving the best you possible is the third and most important aspect of empowering yourself.
Deeply knowing yourself, taking charge of
life, and maximizing your knowledge and skills as you constantly improve on
your weaknesses and limitations towards realizing your life goals is the
essence of self empowerment. The
following are practical ways to empowering yourself:
1) Take
charge of your own life. No one else has the say over your life but you.
You may listen to wisdom of years and youth but only you still have the final
say. You may spend your years serving others but it is by your own choice
still. You direct your own life, the rudder is yours,
and you course your own sail in life.
2) Be aware
of who you are. Recognize your true self- your strengths and weaknesses,
potentials and limitations as well as the opportunities and pitfalls ahead of
you. Only then can you determine how far you can go at self-transformation and
how high you can possibly achieve in terms of your goals in life.
3) Let
go of the past. Each day offers a new beginning, a chance to rise-up and
move forward. Do not tie yourself to the past, don’t hold back. Forgive
yourself for whatever wrong you have done and resolve to become the better you
every day in your life.
4) Develop
a new mind-set. Cultivate a mind-set that will keep you transforming into a
better you. Set-side doubts and negative thoughts and choose to positively
going for change towards the better you, your- attitude and behaviour, habits
and practices, performance and achievement. Keep aiming and working hard until
you realize the best you and all your life goals.
5) Never
worry. Worrying only wears you down. Never waste time pondering doubts and
fears. Carefully choose your options and carry out your course of actions with
positive disposition that while things may not at all happen according to plan
your hard work will get you to your goals still in time.
6) Trust
others and yourself. Trust on yourself and on others is the anchor of your
optimism. Once you have carefully assessed and weighed your options, trust your
judgement in choosing your options, and believe that your chosen course of
actions coupled with constant hard work will yield what you are aiming for.
7) Rest
if you must. Take time out from your daily routine and allow yourself to
rest and relax. Take few minutes each day to enjoy silence. Meditation is an
excellent way to free your body of stress.
8) Be responsible.
Being in control of your life consequently means being responsible for whatever
happens in it. No blame throwing for things that do not happen as planned. Take
full responsibility for your choices and be at peace with the consequences of
your actions.
9) Share
your greatness. Share your self to others- your beliefs and principles.
Make others see and witness the good things you are doing in your life. Declare
your successes as well as your hard tries regardless of its failings.
10) Be
truthful. Honesty to self and to others is liberating. It sets you free of
doubts and worries. Deceit breeds guilt, guilt breeds shame, and shame breeds
feelings of worthlessness. Embrace everything that you are, after all, you
painstakingly honed your being towards self empowerment.
